“You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
If you’d asked me five years ago—heck, even one year ago—if I’d be packing up my life and taking it on the road, I would’ve smiled politely and told you, “That’s not in the cards for me.”
But sometimes life nudges you. Sometimes it shoves. And sometimes, after enough storms, you realize that the roots you’ve grown don’t just hold you down—they can also give you the strength to go.
This blog isn’t about escapism.
It’s about freedom.
It’s about choosing to live, not just survive.
A Life Built on Grit and Grace
I’m a single mom of twins who just entered college. I’ve been battling brain cancer since childhood and have fought hard to live a full life. I've worked remotely as a graphic designer and have always poured myself into my work, my children, and my faith.
I’ve been the helper, the giver, the one who makes sure everyone else is okay.
And now, I’m giving myself permission to explore—not to escape, but to experience.
Why Hit the Road Now?
-
Because my work-from-home job allows it.
-
Because the world is wide, and I’ve spent too long in survival mode.
-
Because there’s more to see, more to feel, and more to share.
-
Because I want to help you—the remote worker, the single parent, the dreamer—discover which places are truly welcoming to people like us.
What This Journey Means
This journey is personal, but it’s also practical.
I’ll be reviewing Airbnbs, hotels, and local gems through the lens of a remote worker.
That means:
-
Honesty over hype.
-
Comfort and internet quality over granite countertops.
-
Parks, cafés, and restaurants that make a place feel like home, even temporarily.
I’ll share the good and the bad—with grace—and I’ll always discuss any review with a host before publishing. I believe in fairness and kindness, even in critique.
From Roots to Roads
This is Remote Roots & Road Reviews.
It’s me—Jennifer—a beach-and-mountain girl with a camera in one hand, a laptop in the other, and a heart full of stories to tell.
Thanks for being here. Let’s wander with purpose.
